Biography

Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba is the Ordinary Bishop of Masaka Diocese. He was born on August 2, 1962 at Bulando Village, Kitovu Parish. On June 20, 1992 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Henry A. Ssentongo. He served as a curate in Mpambire Parish (1992-1993), Teacher and Bursar of Bukalasa Minor Seminary (1993 – 2000) and Diocesan Treasurer (2000 – 2014). He was appointed Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia on  April 15, 2014.

On March 16, 2019 he was appointed by Pope Francis as the new Bishop of Masaka following the retirement of Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa. He was ordained Bishop on July 6, 2019 by Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa, assisted by Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa (Kiyinda Mityana Diocese), Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha (Auxilliary Bishop of Mbarara Archdiocese), Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga (Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese) and Archbishop Luigi Bianco (Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda).
